On July 22, China Cotton Association held the China Cotton Pre-warning System Expert Meetting to discuss the present cotton and fabrics situation. The National Development and Reform Committees, the Ministry of Finance, Statistics Bureau, Department of Commerce, General Administration of Customs, China Fibre Inspection Bureau, China Meteorological Administration, participated in the meeting, and especially invited the leaders from China Cotton Group, Chinatex cotton import and export corporation, Wei Qiao textile, Huafu Corp, Wuxi No.1 textile, Changshan textile,etc.

About the cotton production this year, every department monitors the cotton area to keep an equal pace with last year. For the low temperature in April, the national cotton planting generally postponed 8-13 days. After May, the meteorological condition relatively helps the cotton to grow, diseases and insect pests are relatively light, the cotton grows overall normally. Since July, the strong rainfall has appeared in the Yangtze River valley, provinces such as Hubei, Anhui,etc. suffer from disaster seriously, after July 15, strong precipitation appears in the basin of Huaihe River, cotton in Henan, Shandong, Jiangsu receive a certain influence. At present, except the Yangtze River valley and South Xinjiang, the growing situation of other areas is relatively better, it is estimated the yield will keep an equal pace with last year. July and August are the key period that the output forms, if no great meteorological calamity appear, enhancing field management, it is still expected to obtain relatively good harvest.

About the situation of textile industry this year, the textile enterprise participating in the conference think that the textile situation is better than last year in the first half of the year, the cotton yarn dealling actively, the amount yarn price increasing exceeds the cotton\'s. But since the end of June it is seemed the flex point appeared, with the arrival of slack period of the textile tradition, and uncertainty expectation, the market waitting-and-seeing atmosphere strongly, the textile enterprise does not dare to receive the long term contract and the short form difficult to discuss, the order quantity is obviously reduced compared with earlier stage, cotton yarn and cotton price falled.

To the cotton growing postpone, grower not sale and ask high price situation may appear in new season, the enterprises participating in the conference hope the country to take the measure of regulation and control as soon as possible to stabilize the market of cotton.
